The Arab Fashion Council and DOMUS Academy have excitedly announced their collaboration, offering one budding Arab designer a Masters of Fashion Design scholarship.
An Arab Fashion Council spokesperson said: “This programme will develop the talented designer’s skills, and will enable them to express their creativity and meet the new challenges coming from the fashion world. The programme also aims to offer participants cultural, research and project background at 360-degree. And will give them the chance to do an intra-curricular internship.”
The application for the scholarship will be open to fashion-savvy entries across all 22 Arab countries and the winner, who’ll commence their studies at DOMUS Academy in Milan, will be announced in time for the start of the upcoming academic year.
The Arab Fashion Council made the announcement during the Fashion Workshop at Arab Fashion Week’s second edition. The workshop, in partnership with Dubai Ladies Club, was conducted by the members of the Arab Fashion Council (pictured below).
The initiative behind the scholarship is to emphasise the importance of education and is supported by The Unesco Doha Office who have described the scholarship as a positive contribution towards promoting cultural diversity in the creative industry.
The Masters of Fashion Design at DOMUS Academy course takes a cohesive approach to culture, design, production, marketing and communication through discussion and lectures with experts from the fashion industry. The programme aims to not only develop the skills of up and coming talent but enable them to aptly express their creativity in order to meet any new challenges that the fashion world will present. The programme will also offer the student the chance to take part in an intra-curricular internship.
“The aim of the Master in Fashion Design is to train professionals who have the ability to combine their creativity and their organisational skills with theoretical/practical knowledge and the world of production,” said Dr. Barbara Trebitsch, the Director of Master in Fashion Design at Domus Academy.
